Department of Health information about coviD-19

    From Superintendent Thomas:

The district will follow the Department of Health (DOH) guidelines.

    · Anyone (students/faculty/staff/etc.) who go on foreign travel, to any country, must self-isolate for 14 days upon return.

    · Anyone (students/faculty/staff/etc.) who go on a cruise, anywhere, must self-isolate for 14 days upon return.

    · There should be no mass gatherings, which are defined by the CDC as “1,000-25,000 people, but the practical application is any gathering that would strain local resources.” Local discretion will determine status for events with less than 1,000 people.

    · If a student/faculty/staff has been exposed to a person with confirmed COVID-19, and that student/faculty/staff has been in a classroom, DOH recommends that Districts NOT close the school/college/program, but do recommend that the classroom is cleared and take necessary steps to sanitize the room.

As always, you can learn more about COVID-19 preparations, signs and symptoms, and guidance at

Note: Employees directed to self-isolate will be required to take leave in order to be paid while they are away from work.  If DOH requires a student to self isolate, absences will be excused.

    Enrollment in Virtual School

Students who selected the “Virtual”option and are currently enrolled with your physical school

In an effort to meet all student needs the district has created a new virtual option that will allow you to stay connected to your primary school. This virtual option will require you to create your own virtual account and schedule your courses based on input from your student’s school counselor and/or school administrator.  Both student and parent will be required to create their own FLVS account for “Virtual.” Please use the following link for student account creation:

We have included documents designed to help you in the account creation and scheduling process. Please be sure to select Ransom Middle School when creating the student account. During the student account creation your student will be expected to select 6 franchise courses based upon their school schedule. Parents/guardians will also be expected to create their own account for “Virtual”. Use the following link to create your parent/guardian account

If you have any questions please get in contact with one of our Assistant Principals:  Mrs. Adrienne Green (937-2220, ext 231) or Mr. Alphonse Marsh (937-2200, ext 234).
