Robotics Club

SponsorsMrs. Nancy O'Neal and Mrs. Ellen Holladay

Ransom Robotics Club will participate in two competitions during the 2018-2019 school year.

The BEST ROBOTICS COMPETITION focuses on STEM literacy. STEM literacy integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The students will design, build, and program a working robot. The robot must perform tasks to receive points during the completion. The students will also be completing an engineering notebook that follows the design process, an exhibit booth, and give a presentation as part of the competition.

The Sea Perch project in the spring also incorporates STEM literacy. The students will build a remote control underwater vehicle that must perform tasks underwater during the completion.

The Club meets every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 7:30am to 9:00am during the competition stages. We also meet on Saturdays as the deadline for completion approaches.

The University of West Florida hosts the Emerald Coast BEST Robotics hub, the first BEST hub in the State of Florida. Emerald Coast BEST will hold its eleventh annual competition in the Field House at the UWF Pensacola campus on November 3, 2018.

The mission of BEST Inc. is to inspire middle and high school students to pursue careers in engineering, science, and technology through participation in a sports-like, science and engineering-based robotics competition each fall.
